Home - Book Conservators of New York City

Next Meeting October 20, at the Morgan Library and Museum

The Book Conservators of New York City (BCNYC) is an informal group of conservators working in local institutions and in private practice. It is a new group that plans to meet 3 to 4 times a year in different settings. The next meeting, which will occur on June 5 will focus on recent grant-funded projects. The Wetpaint site provides a tool for local conservators to communicate and share information on any relevant topic. We look forward to hearing from our colleagues.

persimmon mold remediation set-up 0 Mar 12 2007, 5:18 PM EDT by persimmon

I treat mold-damaged design drawings. I have found that there is too much air velocity in a standard chemical fume cabinet to feel comfortable carrying out aseptic mold remediation procedures. I am in the process of designing a work station directly under an elephant trunk, outfitted with a HEPA filtered air cleaner (without a UVC lamp), and a plexiglas hood/shield. Does anyone in the group have experience devising a work station for mold decontamination? I am interested in hood and/or shield designs.
Many thanks,
Persimmon
